Forensic Odontologist/ Dentist serve a identificationfunction.  They analyze corpses teeth and previous dental records so thatthey can make a positive identification.  They also analyze bite patternsdo that they can identify who bit someone or who was eating a particularmeal.  Teeth are composed of enamel, which is the hardest substance withinthe body.  Because of  its resilience, the teeth will outlast tissueand organs as they decompose.  The characteristics  of teeth, theiralignment and overall structure of the mouth provide individual evidence foridentifying a specific individual.  Dental records, such as x-rays, dentalcast, or even a photograph of someone's smile can be used to make a comparisonbetween a set of dental remains and a suspected victim.
